Power of Prayer

How To Pray

Prayer is a private conversation with God, and it holds significant power. Here are some key points about prayer.

1. God, our omniscient Creator, knows our needs before we pray. We should approach God with respect—as our source of strength, forgiveness, and as our Father.

2. Prayers should not be offered to impress those present. This is a time of personal devotion. When praying individually, one is encouraged to seek a private setting and address the Most High sincerely from the heart, in spirit and truth. Wordy or elaborate words may impress people but does not affect God, who values genuine sincerity above all else.

3. Engage in vocal prayer, as verbal expression can reinforce faith and strengthen personal conviction. The spoken word may also have significant influence in spiritual practice.

Our Father

When Jesus was teaching the disciples to pray we must understand the "Our Father" prayer was only a template to follow when praying. Here is the order we are to take when we begin to pray.

• Our Father in heaven may your name be honored may your Kingdom come may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

1) Open your prayer by acknowledging God's Sovereignty and holiness.

We are told to Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him and bless his name.” Psalms 100:4

Thanksgiving is thanking him for who He is: “ For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.” Psalms 100:5

Praise is praising him for what he has done and will do: “The Lord is the one you should praise. He is your God the one who has done these great and awesome things for you that you have seen.” Deuteronomy 10:21

• Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”

2It is customary to wash one's hands before a meal. In a spiritual context, we are encouraged to acknowledge our imperfections before our Father and seek forgiveness for our transgressions. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9

Don’t expect the Lord to forgive you if you don’t forgive others.

Now ask for your daily needs and the needs of others “Don't worry about anything but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

•  keep us from being tempted and protect us from evil.”

3) The devil is continually attacking our fleshly nature. With the strength of the Holy Spirit that dwell within us and the authority we’ve been given, we are able to resist the devil. We are praying for strength to resist and protect our minds from being lead into temptation. We are not instructed to bring the mountain (our trials) to the Lord first, but “speak to the mountain…” Then God will see our faith and move the mountain in accordance to His sovereign will. “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven…” Matthew 18:18a

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.” Amen.

We end our prayer as we started it by acknowledging his, Omnipotence (Power), Omniscience(all knowing) Omnipresence (ever-present). Our Heavenly Father God.
